Buran was an orbital space plane of the Soviet reusable space transport system, created within the Energy-Buran program. On 15 November 1988 Buran made its first and only space flight, in pilotless mode. This fact – flight of a spacecraft in space and its descent to Earth in automatic mode under control of the on-board computer was included into the Guinness Book of Records. The spaceship started from Baikonur Cosmodrome with the support of the Energy rocket.
