Description
Taras Shevchenko was a famous Kobza player, poet, prose writer, and artist. The city of Aktau bore his name for a time. Today the city of Fort Shevchenko in Mangistau region of Kazakhstan, which is located on the Mangyshlak peninsula (Cape Tyubkaragan), bears this name.
Obverse: An image of the state emblem of the Republic of Kazakhstan in the central part, composed with Kazakh and Ukrainian ornaments; face value of the coin — «50», and inscription «TENGE» in the lower sector; elements of national ornament, secularly represented at the left and right parts; «REPUBLIC OF KAZAKHSTAN» in Russian and Kazakh along the circumferences; protruding edge along the circumference.
Reverse: an image of Taras Shevchenko and two Ukrainian ornamental inserts; inscriptions «TARAS SHEVCHENKO» in Russian and «200 YEARS» in Kazakh and Ukrainian languages; «2014» at the upper sector means year of coinage; protruding edge along the circumference.
