Description

Chokan Valikhanov is a prominent scientist, enlightener and democrat, an explorer of the history and culture of Kazakhstan and Central Asia. His research works done after visiting Kashgaria, Semirechye, Kyrgysia, and Eastern Turkestan bring him into line with the most famous pioneering explorers and travelers of Europe and Asia. His short life was like a shooting star in the historical sky of Kazakhstan.

The portrait of Kazakh educator Chokan Valikhanov was represented on banknote of sample of 1993 with face value of 10 tenge. The banknote is withdrawn from circulation now.

Obverse: an image of the state emblem of the Republic of Kazakhstan in the central part; face value of the coin «50», and inscription «TENGE» at lower sector; inscriptions «REPUBLIC OF KAZAKHSTAN» in Russian and Kazakh along the circumference; protruding edge along the circumference.

Reverse: in the central part a fragment of banknote with face value of 10 tenge on which the portrait of the Kazakh educator Chokan Valikhanov is placed; inscriptions «SHOKAN» in Kazakh and «2014» along the circumference means year of coinage and graphic elements from a banknote; protruding edge along the circumference.
